Precoats

Pre-coats are applied in many glass plants today to blank and mould equipment to facilitate a start-up during job changes. A good pre-coat will ensure a smooth start-up and minimize lost production. The precoating of blank and mold equipment allows operators to focus their attention on fine-tuning various parameters of the I.S. machine and checking bottle quality, rather than on swabbing. This contributes to minimizing the time required to start producing bottles of acceptable quality.

Rather than waiting 10 to 20 minutes to pack the first bottle after a job change, with a good pre-coat, production of bottles of an acceptable quality can usually begin right away assuming that the mould equipment is heated to operating temperature before being put into service.

TOTAL's research and development team continually develops delivery coatings to meet the industry's demands. Currently, TOTAL offers several different types of pre-coats. Each of these products was developed over the years with the same objectives, to provide a durable long lasting coating while reducing maintenance. Through cooperation with the worldwide glass industry we have been able to test and refine these products to meet the demands of the evolving industry.
